Concerns have been expressed by The Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP) about the shortage of educational psychologists in schools, colleges and nurseries. The union that represents the professions claims that the shortage could scupper the new reforms.

In order to help schools, colleges and other providers meet the increased responsibilities resulting from the change in the law, extra funding is being provided to increase the number of training places to 132 for each of the next two years…but this would barely provide half the number of educational psychologists required to meet the number of new vacancies being advertised’.

Ms Fallon, general secretary of the AEP said:

‘There is already a shortage of educational psychologists, but the workforce is being placed under increasing pressure to provide more and more school SEN and mental health support services in an environment where the number of new schools and new types of schools is rising, along with a growing number of pupils, leading to an increase in the number of young people with special needs and behavioural difficulties’.

I am so happy at the outcome, I don't think we would have had such a comprehensive service from any other law firm, and you took the worry away...I do not regret a single second of the whole process, apart from the bit before you got involved.
