DfE issues guidance on the SEN changes for parents and carers

  • Posted

Ahead of the changes around special educational needs from 1 September 2014, the Department of Education has issued this guide on the support system for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

The guide explains how the system that supports children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities works.

It covers:

  • The law and statutory guidance on which the system is based
  • Details about changes to the system from 1 September 2014.

The guide may also be useful for staff in schools who are dealing with the parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. The guide is not a legal document but is based on the Children and Families Act 2014 and accompanying Regulations.

The guide should be used alongside the SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25.

I am so happy at the outcome, I don't think we would have had such a comprehensive service from any other law firm, and you took the worry away...I do not regret a single second of the whole process, apart from the bit before you got involved.
