Depression

Depression is a feeling of overwhelming sadness which may lift occasionally but for no sustained period. Depression can be a symptom of other underlying special educational needs or as a result of medical, social or home pressures.

Depression can result in irritation, withdrawal, social isolation, feelings of guilt, difficulty concentrating, a lack of energy and self-harm.

Depression can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to attend school and/or engage with education. It is widely recognised as a disability and, if it causes a significant difficulty in accessing education, can result in special educational needs (SEN).

Advice should be sought as early as possible for a child with depression. Typically, SEN additional support may be adequate, whereas in others an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) may be required. It is important that appropriate methods of teaching, along with reward and sanction techniques are used in order to compliment any other strategies being used.

I am so happy at the outcome, I don't think we would have had such a comprehensive service from any other law firm, and you took the worry away...I do not regret a single second of the whole process, apart from the bit before you got involved.
