A night with Dingley's Promise

  • Posted

Earlier this month Boyes Turner’s special educational needs (SEN) specialists were kindly invited to attend an event celebrating local charity Dingley’s Promise.

Dingley’s Promise is a registered not for profit charity with a mission to support under 5’s with SEN or disabilities by providing specialist learning through play, family support, training and advice to parents or schools.

The recent re-branding of Dingley’s Promise demonstrates an ongoing commitment to children with SEN and their families. The statistics reinforce Dingley’s promise to their children, with 170 families being directly benefited in 2015- 2016, a significant 21% increase on previous years. The quality of their service was also recognised with OFSTED awarding all three centres in Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham with ‘Outstanding’ reviews.

Dingley’s Promise predicts that up to 80% of their children will need an educational health and care plan (EHCP) once they transition into mainstream or specialist primary schools. Although Dingley’s Promise is reaching out to local mainstream schools to help educate and put provisions in place for children with SEN, the large numbers of young children who would benefit from Dingley’s help is putting a huge amount of strain on their resources. This makes raising awareness of charities supporting and educating families and schools on SEN children all the more important, and the work that Dingley’s Promise does so special.

How can Boyes Turner help?

At Boyes Turner we have a dedicated and specialist education team that deals exclusively with ensuring children with SEN and disabilities receive EHC needs assessments and, if needed, detailed EHCPs that can provide specialist support and solutions.

We hope that we can continue the legacy of Dingley’s Promise by ensuring children who have left their care continue to be given the best opportunities to reach their potential.

I am so happy at the outcome, I don't think we would have had such a comprehensive service from any other law firm, and you took the worry away...I do not regret a single second of the whole process, apart from the bit before you got involved.
